EmPowerYu provides effective remote monitoring of non-connected patients during a capacity crisis, including data needed to support telehealth visits
Telehealth has expanded dramatically since March 2020 because it limits the spread of the new coronavirus, especially to vulnerable people like older adults with chronic conditions. It also protects facilities and providers by reducing exposure within the community, and reducing the amount of personal protective equipment needed. Remote monitoring 'force multiplied the effectiveness of our nurses'. Providence COVID-19 case study, April 2020
Some lessons learned:
1) Many people with COVID-19 can stay at home safely with appropriate remote monitoring
2) When people don't feel well, they are not reliably taking and reporting medical device readings
3) The easier the monitoring is, the more complete the data. Video visits and smartphone requirements may be too difficult for some people.

Healthcare providers need detailed knowledge for effective decision support by the right people at the right time
EmPowerYu is the tool for providers to understand the real-time status of high-risk people who live independently in the community, and who do not use smartphone-based or tablet-based systems. Our service is reimbursable as part of a program for Remote Patient Monitoring, Chronic Care Management, and Principal Care Management.
Our passive monitoring approach means providers get 100% participation rates for our core event-monitoring service. For people who do not use smartphones, we support FDA-approved blood pressure monitors, weight scales, and medication minders that work on cellular connections and look like traditional devices. For people who do use smartphones, we integrate data from over 400 different medical and fitness devices from multiple manufacturers.
People want to be at home when possible. Attending to high risk patients at home saves time and cost, and RPM reduces re-admissions when it is part of a home care program. Telehealth kits that give the provider the ability to track metrics at home have surged in popularity during COVID19 because of their ability to provide clinical decision support with current and relevant data.
